Abbey Tourist Hostel

The Abbey Tourist Hostel is located right in the heart of Ennis' historic town centre, opposite Ennis Abbey which dates back to 1248 and overlooking the majestic River Fergus.
The hostel itself is situated in a beautiful, rambling building which was built in 1740, originally the 'County Club' for the Lords and Gentry of the County, in the early 1900's it was the Club House Hotel. It is steeped in history and old world charm.

Since its recent renovation during winter 2005, it now has 16 rooms and can comfortably accommodate up to 65 people .
Some of these rooms are located in a separate building behind the hostel overlooking the River Fergus and the private gardens which has a100 year old orchard.
With the River Fergus flowing gracefully past the hostel, it is the ideal setting for the many traditional Irish music sessions hosted there.

Being in such a central location it is the perfect base from which to explore Ennis town and the many other attractions of County Clare.

The hostel is run by Marianne and Brian who's families have been associated with the building for over 200 years.

The hostel is within easy reach of all the major sites and attractions including the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Aran Islands, the Burren and the Ailwee Caves.Closer to home you've got the Bunratty Folk park,Durty Nellies,Quin Abbey and Ennis' own bustling town centre which has a wide variety of shops, pubs and a restaurants and also boasts a variety of traditional Irish music seven nights a week.
Ennis is also a haven for sports enthusiasts with top quality golfing, horse riding,surfing,sea kayaking,dolphin watching,Burren walking tours and fishing facilities all close at hand.
