This is a family run hostel with an international reputation. Having stayed at Tom & Freddie Hynes Hostel, you will come to know how much it is popular - not just with the Irish Hosteller but with people from all over the world. The reason for this almost cult-like love and admiration for Hynes is because when you stay at Hynes Hostel you are treated like a member of the family. You are given an enormous welcome.

There are many amenities and places of interest in the area. For leisure indoor game facilities of snooker, pool, darts or cards are available. Play the numerous golf courses (Ballinasloe, Loughrea, Portumna to name but a few) in the area. Visit Kilconnell Abbey, Clonfert Cathedral, Clonmacnoise, Aughrim Heritage Centre & Museum, the Ballinasloe Horse Fair (first week in October) and the Aughrim Music Festival (held on August Bank Holiday).
Here you will be amongst some of the friendliest locals in Ireland, genuinely interested in making your stay in Aughrim something to write home about. There are regular live traditional Irish music sessions, with traveling musicians always welcome to come in and entertain.

Hynes Hostel & Bar stands on the battle site of Aughrim which is situated about three miles from Ballinasloe. Hynes bar is full of old Irish memorabilia hanging from the walls and ceiling including artifacts from the famous 1691 Battle of Aughrim.
You can relax in the Hynes family lounge (with Sky T.V). You can cook or prepare your own food in the Hynes family kitchen - sure, you can even get a filling home-cooked meal from Freddie herself (you'll not go hungry) while you relax in the Bar.
