Bar & Restaurant
Award winning Executive Chef Richard Harte has recently joined Glenlo Abbey having previously worked in the Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland, The Roscoff Restaurant in Antrim and the Zetland Hotel in Connemara.
The Pullman Restaurant located just behind the golf course and overlooking the old Clifden - Galway Railway Line. This historic Pullman train carriage, which was used in Agatha Christie film Murder on the Orient Express, was converted into a Restaurant Car and now seats 60 people on the grounds of Glenlo Abbey. There are also two enclosed 6-seater compartments. There are regular Themed Events including Roaring Twenties, Murder on the Orient Express, James Bond 007. The Pullman Restaurant has also been awarded the Georgina Campbell "Most Atmospheric Restaurant 2005".
The River Room Restaurant with great views and classical decor, there are tall windows on all five exterior walls, so that guests are afforded a view of Lough Corrib wherever they are seated. Breakfast is served here: buffet style, continental or traditional Irish. The River Room was also awarded RAC Gold Ribbon Award Winner 2005.
The Abbey dates back to 1740 and can be booked for groups of up to 28 guests.
The Oak Cellar Bar located in the cellars, the perfect spot for 'before' or 'after' dinner drinks.
Kentfield Cocktail Lounge and The Library enjoy the intimate surroundings of the Kentfield Cocktail Lounge or sip coffee or cognac in the library.
Golf
This 138-acre lakeside estate is home to a challenging double 9-hole Parkland, par 71, golf course with a 12-Bay driving range.
Nearby Attractions
The unique 9 hole double green golf course is a par 72 parkland golf course with rolling hills, lakes and fabulous views of Lough Corrib. Glenlo Abbey G.C. is the closest golf course to Galway City and is a favourite amongst locals. The 12 Bay Driving Range is the ideal place to warm up before a round of golf but also for group and individual golf tuition. While clay pigeon shooting, archery and some of the best fishing in Western Europe are easily organised right on-site at Glenlo Abbey.
