The Great Southern Hotel Group dates back to 1845 and its ten hotels are among the top hotels in Ireland. The Great Southern Hotel in Galway is the city's most famous hotel and has been transformed into 'an oasis of calm sophistication and elegance' since its refurbishment in 2003.

Accommodation

Accommodation at the Great Southern Hotel Galway consists of 99 luxurious bedrooms, many with views onto Eyre Square. The corridors in the main part of the building are extremely wide, designed in the Victorian Era to allow two ladies in hooped dresses to pass each other; today they have been elegantly restored with marble and rich rugs, leading you on to luxurious guest rooms.

Dining

A tradition in the hotel for over 100 years, Afternoon Tea is served in the lobby with a tempting selection of pastries and cakes.

Croi na G - The hotel's cocktail bar, pre-dinner drinks in an old world atmosphere.
The Oyster Room - an elegant spilt-level dining room complemented by a magnificent bog oak sculpture created by a local artist. Extensive menu, best of local produce and cuisine. An Irish coffee after dinner is recommended as Joe Heskin, the Head Waiter, is a world champion Irish Coffee Maker.

O'Flaherty's Pub in the basement of the hotel is one of Galway's favourite pubs. Serves carvery lunch and an extensive evening menu. All sports are shown live on the large screens. Live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night.
