Irelands oldest Hostel & it's a 15th Century Castle!!
Foulksrath Castle is based eight kilometres from the medieval city of Kilkenny. This lovely 16th century Norman Tower House has many medieval features, including a magnificent dining room with enormous fireplaces & a spiral staircase to upper floors.
Ghost Hunters have, in the past, visited the hostel and reported the best ghostly sounds of any place they visited in Ireland. Stories say the daughter of the original owner was killed, resulting in the belief that the castle may be haunted.
It is the ideal place to stay for a few days while you explore the many places of interest including heritage sites dating from the Iron Age through to the present day.
Check in time at Foulksrath Castle youth hostel is strictly after 5pm and check out is 10am. The hostel is closed to guests between 10am and 5pm.
