Visit The Valley House Hostel and Traditional pub on Irelands wild and beautiful west coast.

This historic Victorian house is located on scenic wooded grounds close to Blue Flag beaches. Having a 9-hole Pitch & Putt course and a beautiful lake stocked with trout on grounds. The music sessions, darts and pool table in the friendly pub will keep you happy in the evenings. Nearby courtyard is a lovely place to sit out and enjoy along with you can use gas barbeque provided by the house if you like. The house remains open all the year and individual plus group bookings are all welcomed. The house has a full self-catering kitchen facilities and a large dining room & residents lounge. Achill is a startling island; connected to the mainland by a bridge and is just 50 minutes from Westport either you are driving or take the bus (for help please see directions).

Breakfast and Family Rooms

Breakfast and other meals can be provided by prior arrangement.
Family rooms are available but please note when booking that children are not allowed in mixed dorms unless the family group takes all the beds in that dorm.
There is a good supermarket as you drive onto the island at Achill Sound and a smaller shop about 3 miles from us. So it is advisable if you do not have a car to bring food with you if you want to cook your own meals.

Directions to the Valley House Hostel

Taking the Bus or Train:

From Shannon Airport: There are no trains from Shannon therefore get a bus to Galway and then make a connection to Westport, Co. Mayo and then another connection to Achill.

From Dublin: Take the train from Heuston Station (Dublin) to Westport and then get the bus to Achill. Buses are available also from Dublin-Westport.

From Westport, Co. Mayo: Take the bus #441 from Mill Street in Westport to Achill. This bus drops you within 100m of hostel entrance. Tell the driver you are going to the Valley House and you need to get off at the Valley crossroads.

From Castlebar, Co. Mayo: Take the bus #441 from outside Flannelly's Pub, Main Street, Castlebar. Tell the driver you are going to the Valley House and you need to get off at the Valley crossroads.
