Dungannon Golf Club was established in 1890. It started operations with just nine holes and was later extended to eighteen holes. The honorary life member of this club Darren Clarke is well known for his contribution to making this golf club an enjoyable place for golfers.

In Darren's honour, the signature ninth hole is called Darren Clarke. This spectacular hole is comprised of a crescent shaped green protected by a pond. The front nine holes of the course are pretty flat while the back nine can be quite a tiresome test for the average golfer. The layout of the course consists of wider than normal fairways and the greens are guarded mostly by ponds and well placed bunkers.
